On January 23, 2013 White Rock RCMP entered into an investigation concerning a local area resident who may have been in possession of chemicals which may pose a significant risk to public safety.
As a result of this tip, the White Rock RCMP, working in concert with members of the Explosive Disposal and Chemical/Biological/Radiological/Nuclear Response Unit (EDU/CBRN),the Emergency Response Team (ERT), the Lower Mainland Integrated Forensic Identification Services (LMD-FIS), and with support of the White Rock Fire Services, executed a search warrant on a residence in the 15100 block of Prospect Ave, White Rock.
A quantity of chemicals were seized as a result of this search, the quantity and composition to be confirmed through further analysis.
One male, Hamish SUTHERLAND, 34 years of White Rock has been charged with One count of Breach of Probation and remains in custody until his next court appearance on January 31, 2013. Further charges may be pending.
The investigation is still ongoing but the White Rock RCMP are confident any threats to public safety which may have existed in regards to this incident have been resolved.
